New Scientist.

I lead the UX, design, and front end development of New Scientist. Including the flagship website and app, integrating Piano subscription journeys, checkout, and paywalls. Delivered multiple sub-brand redesigns in various CMS's and React SPA microsites for commercial partners. Mentored 2 front end developers. Established best practices to improve code quality.

Mobile app design

  1. Researched competitors to spot gaps and opportunities.

Academy courses design and build

  1. Designed and built New Scientist Academy course site in Thinkific CMS.
  2. Extended the design system to balance consistency with sub-brand identity.
  3. Implemented the build using Shopify's Liquid templating system.
  4. Delivered a polished, easy-to-use course experience for learners.

Brand reconciliation.

When I joined NS, the brand was split between print and digital, with multiple sources of truth. I unified the brand across both, overhauled the colour palette and typography, and created a central hub for sharing assets.
